The 1899 1st --and almost certainly only-- edition of this lovely, uncommon children's title, suffused with vivid, strong color throughout. A solid copy to be sure of a fragile title. Crisp and VG in its olive-green, pictorial boards, with light scuffing at the rear panel. Mild foxing as well to a number of the pages and light, forgiveable offsetting to the versos of the chromolithographed plates. And finally, the original red cloth spine shows a bit of spotting but is tight and very strong. Spectacular color illustrations by Mabel Dearmer, all still in their original tissue-guards (which undoubtedly helps to account for their brightness). Very Good. Item #26096
