A clean, very presentable copy to boot of the 1977 1st edition (with Dodd, Mead's correct number line appearing at the copyright page). Clean and Fine in a crisp, price-clipped, VG to VG+ dustjacket, with mild fading to the red along the front panel and spine, and a degree of offsetting --along with several tiny closed tears to the top-edges-- of the rear panel. Still though, attractive and well-preserved. An oblong quarto, written by the great Billy Steinkraus, "captain of the United States Equestrian team, a member of six Olympic jumping squads and the first American to win an individual Olympic gold medal in equestrian sport", and wonderfully illustrated in pencil and charcoal by the great Sam Savitt, who produces "the finest horse portraiture today" Fine / Very Good +.
