Alternative Sources of Energy: Practical Technology and Philosophy for a Decentralized Society (Book One)

Kingston, NY: Alternative Sources of Energy, 1974. Pictorial wrappers. The uncommon 1974 stated 1st printing of this seminal, encyclopedic "compilation of reprints from early zine-style environmental newsletters", limited to 3,000 copies. Among the first publications to "focus on practical, homebuilt power systems like wind and solar". Tall folio, holding up well in its brittle, heavily-illustrated, light-brown wrappers, with light offsetting and soiling to the panels and a bit of chipping at the front panel's upper tip. The book is divided into 3 sections: Technology; Building a Network; and Philosophy. Followed by an ASE (Alternative Sources of Energy") Bibliography. Some of the chapters (14 all told) within the sections include: Solar Power; Wind Power; Water Power; Fuels; Transportation; Agriculture; People Getting Together; The Politics of Energy; and Sunrise. Very Good. Item #25509
