The 1927 1st edition of this uncommon example of Muslim sociology, an examination of daily life of the women of Mzab, a region of the northern Sahara Desert in the Ghardaia Province of Algeria. Complete in 2 volumes, the set has held up nicely: solid and VG- to VG in its printed wrappers, with pronounced offsetting and staining along Vol. II's front panel, as well as darkeing at its spine. Vol. I has a bit of light staining at its spine as well. Both volumes very clean internally, with no writing or markings to speak of. Octavos, 19 lavish plates at the rear of Vol. I, each with its printed tissue-guard intact. A large number of the signatures uncut. Very Good. Item #18186
