Catalogue of A Loan Exhibition of Old English Plate and Decorations and Orders

1929. 1/2 Vellum. The 1929 catalogue of the historic exhibition (held to benefit the Royal Northern Hospital) of "possibly the finest and most representative collection of Old English Silver that the public has ever had an opportunity to behold." With the full participation of the Queen and the Royal family, the exhibition included pieces of plate "now for the first time on public view". The catalogue is bound in a sumptuous half-vellum over light-blue cloth, with bright gilt-titling along the front panel and spine. Mild soiling to the vellum, light spotting at the rear panel's blue cloth. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings to speak of. A tight, solid, firmly VG copy. Tall quarto, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. 81 crisp black-and-white plates follow an itemized accounting of all those who made loans to the exhibition. Very Good. Item #17960
