Item #17715 Le Droit D'Aimer: Roman D'Apres Le Film de la Metro Goldwyn Mayer

Le Droit D'Aimer: Roman D'Apres Le Film de la Metro Goldwyn Mayer

Paris: Librairie Gallimard, 1930. Original wraps. The scarce 1930 French novelization of Greta Garbo's "The Single Man" (Metro Goldwyn Mayer, 1929). The film is essentially a forward-thinking, "feminist" take on the right ("le droit") of women to be held to the same standard as men and to take on multiple lovers --rather than opt for marriage-- if they so desire. A clean, VG+ to Near Fine example in its stapled, pictorial wrappers, which consist of 2 wonderful stills (centered on Garbo) from the film. A touch of light creasing along a number of the page edges, only 1 example of neat ink underlining to several lines. Tall quarto, sepia photographs from the film thruout, complementing the narrative-in-French. Very Good +. Item #17715
