Paris: Dervy, 1949. Original wraps. Very uncommon 1949 study of "Caodaism, or Cao Dai. literally meaning high palace or Kingdom of Heaven. In its Vietnamese form, the term Cao Dai is the name of God. A clean, very sharp copy to boot. Bright and Near Fine in its original off-white wrappers, with very mild darkening along the spine. Octavo, uncut signatures. Crisp, well-captioned black-and-white plates thruout. A scarce early study by the French of Vietnamese Buddism and Spiritualism, eerily prescient in its connection --thru this presentation to the American ambassador-- to The United States. Near Fine.
