Item #16693 Urformen der Kunst: Photographische Pflanzenbilder (In Dustjacket). Professor Karl Blossfeldt.

Urformen der Kunst: Photographische Pflanzenbilder (In Dustjacket)

Berlin: Verlag Ernst Wasmuth, 1929. Cloth. The 1929 stated 2nd edition of this seminal photographic study of plants and flowers, IN ITS UNCOMMON PICTORIAL DUSTJACKET. Loosely translated from its German as "Archetypes of Art", Karl Blossfeldt's groundbreaking portraits, all in rich, lavish gravure, highlight the brilliance --and the beauty-- of nature's remarkable design. A very solid copy to boot: Tight and VG+ to Near Fine, with bright, completely unrubbed gilt-titling and insignia along the front panel. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. And in a crisp, VG dustjacket, with light chipping along the spine ends (at the spine crown very light loss, at the spine base 1 1/2" of loss) and at the tips. Mild scuffing and soiling as well to the panels but the jacket remains attractive and very presentable. Tall quarto, 120 plates all told. Edited and with an Introduction by Karl Nierendorf. Very Good + / Very Good. Item #16693
