Original Modular Sketch

Berlin: c. 1930. Marcel Breuer. A nice-sized pencil-on-trace by Marcel Breuer, the great Hungarian-born Modernist architect and furniture designer (1902-1981) who was a student at the Bauhaus in Weimar and who, at an early age, was handpicked by Walter Gropius to head the Bauhaus' Carpentry Shop. His "modular" sketch measues 16 1/2" wide by 11 3/4" tall and features his Berlin studio stamp ("Marcel Breuer Architekt") at the lower right corner. The sketch has held up nicely. There are 2 even vertical folds and very light creasing and wear but the drawing remains strong, clean and vivid. Circa 1930-1933, when the Bauhaus had been relocated in Berlin. Near Fine.
