Impressions of Mahayana Buddhism

Impressions of Mahayana Buddhism SIGNED

Kyoto and London: The Eastern Buddhist Society of Otani Buddhist College AND Luzac and Company, 1940. Boards. INSCRIBED BY D.T. SUZUKI (THE GREAT JAPANESE ZEN BUDDHIST SCHOLAR AND PHILOSOPHER) in 1942 on a pasted-on vinatge card affixed to the front free endpaper. Suzuki's is an especially significant signature --particularly in this case-- given that he was not only the husband of the author (Beatrice Lane Suzuki) but was also the editor of the text and brought it to light for publication after his wife's death in 1939. A very presentable copy to boot. Tight and VG+ (light spotting along a number of page edges) in a crisp, VG+ dustjacket, with just the slightest hint of chipping and wear along the top-edges, and a bit of very mild spotting at the spine. Octavo, impressive frontispiece photograph of Beatrice Lane Suzuki (1878-1939) plus a full-page 1915 photograph within the text of her in full Buddhist garb. Very Good + / Very Good +. Item #22534
