Le Magnifique Chasteau de Richelieu, en General et en Particulier

Paris: C. 1660. Jean Marot. Full leather. Paris, circa 1660. 3 pgs. of text, 21 double-gated plates, engraved by architect Jean Marot. The chateau designed for Cardinal Richelieu ("L'etat, c'est moi!!") by the great French architect Jacques Le Mercier. Bound in a lovely full calf --with beautiful gilt-flourishes and bordering-- by Christian Samuel Kalthoeber (1752-1819) in the late 18th/early 19th century. Oblong folio, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Lovely gilt-tooling within the compartments along the spine. Small, older catalogue entry for this title neatly affixed to the front pastedown, otherwise very clean. (Continuing from the title page: "Les Plans, Les Elevations, et Profils' Generaux et Particuliers Dudit Chasteau."). Very Good +. Item #21778
