Etude sur le Mouvement d'Art Decoratif en Allemagne ("A Study of the Decorative Arts Movement in Germany")

La Chaux-De-Fonds, France: Imprimerie Haefeli & Co., 1912. Original wraps. A rarity in 20th century architecture. The 1912 1st edition of Le Corbusier's very first publication, an analysis of the German applied arts movement and some of its key figures (such as Peter Behrens, for whom Le Corbusier worked in 1910-1911). A clean, very well-preserved copy of a fragile item. Bright and VG+ in its original mustard wrappers, with just a touch of light creasing along the fore-edges and the bottom-edges. Internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. Octavo, text exclusively in French (in fact, not even translated into English until 1968!). This early examination of modern German design no doubt lead in foundational ways to Le Corbusier's breakthrough --and seminal-- 1923 "Towards a New Architecture" Very Good +. Item #21444
