Education of an Architect: A Point of View

New York: The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, 1971. Original wraps. The scarce 1971 catalogue, based on "an exhibition by the Cooper Union School of Art & Architecture at the Museum of Moderrn Art, New York City, November 1971". Tight and VG+ in its printed green wrappers, with light wear along the spine ends, just a touch of very light scuffing to the panels and mild fading along the spine. Early contributions by, among others, student Daniel Libeskind (1965-1970), who here offers a lengthy chapter called "Urban Housing" and another one called "Collage", and faculty member Robert Slutzky, who here offers a chapter ("Two Dimensional/Color Exercises"). Square quarto (12" x 12"), filled with hundreds of creative photographic and line-drawn diagrams. Though not indicated within the catalogue itself, this copy from the personal library of Sean Sculley (1939-2021), renowned architect and landscape designer and long-term professor at Cooper Union. Very Good +. Item #20198
