Item #20142 The Blueprint and Building Permit for a 1961 Fall Out Shelter

The Blueprint and Building Permit for a 1961 Fall Out Shelter

1961. Ephemera. A tangible dose of Cold War paranoia. The blueprint (mimeographed), the October 13th 1961 permit (original) and permit receipt (original) for a Fall Out (or Bomb) shelter to be built in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The rectangular cardboard permit is given a permit #, is signed and dated by the inspector and is identified by block and by lot #. The smaller paper receipt also lists all the specifics, including the name of the owner of the house where the Fall Out shelter is to be built and the estimated cost ($1,000). Offsetting to the upper left corner of the permit itself and light foxing to the receipt, otherwise clean and well-preserved. Item #20142
