Codex Seraphinianus (With Abbeville's Original Announcement Laid-In)

New York: Abbeville Press, 1983. Cloth. A very sharp copy of the 1983 stated 1st American edition. Solid and VG+ (light spotting along the top and fore-edges, small ghost of a former price-sticker to the front free endpaper) in a crisp, Near Fine dustjacket, with one tiny chip along the rear panel's top-edge. Folio, over 1,100 illustrations in rich color plus indecipherable charts and lists. Also inlcudes a laid-in copy of the publisher's original announcement. A remarkable achievement by the Italian artist and architect Luigi Serafini. (From the front dustjacket flap: "Not since Escher has an artist arrived on the scene whose imagery has so much to say to so many people -- to science-fiction lovers and philosophers, to artists and writers, to linguists, programmers, and fantasy addicts, in short to anyone intrigued by the creation of meaning."). Very Good + / Near Fine. Item #19684
