Ski and Camera: Seventy-Six Winter Leica Photographs (In a Spakling Dustjacket). Dr. Paul Wolff.

Ski and Camera: Seventy-Six Winter Leica Photographs (In a Spakling Dustjacket)

Hollywood, CA: Ruthenberg Color Photography Co., 1936. Boards. A magnificent copy of the 1936 1st American edition of this beautiful photographic study of the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, Germany. The considerable skills of the great German photographer Dr. Paul Wolff, as well as the range and capability of his beloved Leica camera, are all on full display here. 76 deep, rich gravures capture both life among the locals in the small Bavarian village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and life on skis along the vast Alpine mountain ranges. An all-but-pristine copy. Solid and Near Fine in its pictorial, spiral-bound boards, with just a touch of light abrading at the front pastedown. And in a superb, Near Fine example of the pictorial dustjacket (mirroring the book's boards), which shows just the faintest trace of forgiveable soiling to the rear panel. The Introductory text by Burgh Ardvon Reznicek is in both English and his native German, as is the Foreword ("Alpine Adventures with the Leica") by Dr. Paul Wolff himself. And finally, laid into this copy are 2 original order forms --from 1936-- for the German edition (Skikamerad TONI: Winterfahrten um Garmisch-Partenkirchen"). Truly a collector's copy. Near Fine / Near Fine. Item #17207
