1927 George Gershwin TLS to Publisher Donald Friede

1927. January 13th, 1927 letter on his personal stationary (with its printed "316 West 103rd Street" address) from George Gershwin to Boni and Liveright Vice-President Donald Friede (co-founder as well of the publisher Covici-Friede). A dense, 1 pg. letter on light-blue paper, Gershwin politely responds here to Donald Friede's request to use a blurb from Gershwin praising the upcoming Phillip Barry play, "White Wings". Gershwin confesses to not having read it yet, sighting his busy schedule, but feels confident he'll like it once he reads the play and gives Freide permission to go ahead and create a quote prasing the play in his name. The 8"x10" letter has been lightly folded into sixths but remains very clear and clean and without any smudging or rubbing whatsover. Gershwin's signature as well is strong and eminently legible. A nice glimpse into Gershwin's generous, easygoing ways. Very Good +. Item #15553
