The City of Boston, 1888. 1st. Full-Leather. A wonderful piece of Americana-- and specifically of late 19th century Boston history. The 1888 list of city and county employees (and their home addresses and salaries), "prepared under the direction of the Special Committee of the Common Council, appointed April 26, 1888". Bound in a sumptuous full morocco, with bright gilt-lettering, insignia and rule at the panels. 6 gilt-decorated compartments, 5 raised bands at the spine. Front hinge tender (but still perfectly sturdy), light wear at the spine base, otherwise clean as could be. Tight, solid and Near Fine. Octavo, 261 pgs. plus 12 pg. "list of non-resident instructors of the Boston public schools, November 1888". All edges bright gilt, lovely marbled endpapers and gilt-borders at the pastedowns.
