Here Come the Hippies

North Hollywood: Brandon House, 1967. Original wraps. A superb, all-but-pristine copy of the 1967 1st (and undoubtedly only) edition of this rarity to emerge from the LA --and specifically Sunset Strip-- Hippie scene of the mid to late 60s. Crisp and Near Fine to Fine, with no flaws of any kind to speak of. One of the most obscure titles put out by the legendary sleaze and soft-core publisher Brandon House of North Hollwood, showing only 2 copies listed in World Cat. "Frank knew the Sunset Strip action inside out....but the current teen-age invasion was something else again!" (from the front cover). "In his years behind the bar of the Backdrop Cafe, Frank had seen the once-fabulous Sunset Strip run steadily downhill....from a glittering boulevard where screen stars and billionaires rubbed elbows with mobster chiefs and costly courtesans, to a grimy street peopled by Beatniks, Flopniks and other human jetsam. But nothing had prepared Frank for the tidal wave of wild youth --Teenie Boppers, Brinkniks and Hippies-- who were currently flooding the Strip and converting it to their own shocking psychedelic pattern" (from the rear cover). Brandon House 1117. Fine. Item #17302
