1898 1st edition, IN THE VERY UNCOMMON ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET. VG in its red cloth--with light staining at the foot of the panels-- and in a bright, VG- pictorial dustjacket, with chipping at the spine ends and panel tips (representing about 10-15% loss to the overall jacket). Still though, very presentable and, as an example of a 19th century dustjacket, very elusive. Light offsettting at the front and rear free endpapers.

Lithographed portrait of American war criminal Lieutenant William Calley, 1969. 14" x 10 1/4". On heavy card stock, with die-cut eyeholes. A solid, VG example. Very light soiling and a faint shadow of a boot print at lower right. Scarce artifact of the October, 1969 march on Washington. Calley had been indicted for war crimes in September of '69 and would be convicted, after a lengthy and controversial trial, in 1971. Several hundred demonstrators at the October march wore these makeshift masks to express the opinion that until the war ended all Americans were equally guilty of murdering Vietnamese civilians.
